Faye Day

Mrs. Barbara “Faye” Day, age 81, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Sunday night, June 7, 2026 at her residence.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at 11AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Adkisson officiating. Burial will follow in Lynn Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7PM as well as on Saturday from 10-11 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 12, 1944 in Williamson County, she was the daughter of the late Preston Griggs and the late Frances Craft Griggs. She was a devout Christian and was a member of Taylor’s Chapel Free-Will Baptist Church. Faye took great pride in being a homemaker, cooking, playing Yahtzee, and spending time with her family brought her great joy. She embodied a true servants’ heart which lead her to a career with the Williamson County Sherriff’s Department, where she retired from after sixteen years. A beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother she will be tremendously missed by all who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Tammy (Paul) McGahey, Lorrie Caruthers, sister, Shirley (Mack) Potts, grandchildren, Justin Fitzgerald (Addie), Keegan McGahey, great grandchildren, Olivia, Isla, Asher, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Billy Caruthers, second husband, Charles Day, brothers, Everette Griggs, Roy Griggs, JW Griggs, sister, Kathy Potts, and grandson Andrew Fitzgerald.
