Arlie J Veer

July 14, 1934 — May 4, 2025

Columbia

Arlie J. Veer, age 90, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

A private memorial service for family and close friends will be held at a later date. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Born on July 14, 1934, in Langdon, North Dakota, Arlie was the son of the late Abe and Helen Penner Veer. On February 25, 1956, he married the love of his life, Betty Ruth Jones. Together, they shared sixty-nine beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and unwavering devotion.

Arlie was truly a jack of all trades, but at heart, he was a farmer—dedicating his life’s work to the land. His work ethic carried him through a variety of roles: over thirty years in equipment sales at Lake Supply, maintenance work at Wenke Greenhouses in Kalamazoo, Michigan, service at the Ranch Recovery Center, and most recently, a special calling—rocking babies at All God’s Children.

A passionate outdoorsman, Arlie loved hunting, fishing, being involved in the Friends of the NRA and attending Mule Days. He never met a stranger, and those who met him quickly became friends. He was a member of First Family Church in Columbia.

Arlie’s greatest joy came from his family. In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by his children, Denise (Kent) Koehn, Mike (Chelly) Veer, Julie (Dean) Norton, siblings, Ted Veer, Eileen Turner, Ronnie Veer, beloved grandchildren, Blake (Emily) Koehn, Ryan (Kara) Norton, Cody (Kelsie) Norton, Dylan Veer, Alec Veer, cherished great grandchildren, Maura Koehn, Marion Koehn, Sydney Norton, Jackson Norton, Joelle Norton, Amelia Norton, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Edwin Veer, Alden Veer, and Rose Krahn.
