Alfred Michael Yanone Jr., 77, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on December 2, 2025.
Born on November 26, 1948, in Staten Island, New York, Alfred lived a life defined by faith, devotion to family, and service to his country. He earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from St. John’s University in New York City. His plans to attend West Point—where he had been accepted—were set aside when he was drafted into the U.S. Army, a twist of fate that led him to meet the love of his life, Kinez, his devoted wife of 55 years.
Following his military service, Alfred began a distinguished law enforcement career with the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA), a division of the New York City Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). He ultimately rose to the rank of Lieutenant. Known for his integrity, leadership, and steadfast commitment to justice, he retired honorably in 2000 and remained deeply respected by colleagues and community alike.
Alfred was cherished for his kindness, remarkable equanimity, generosity, and unmistakable bellowing laugh. His quick wit and sense of comedic timing remain legendary. Fair-minded, warm, and full of life, he brought joy to all who had the privilege of knowing him. His presence will be profoundly missed, but the pearls of wisdom he imparted, and the many adventures shared will live on in family lore for generations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Kinez Yanone; his sons, Alfred Michael Yanone III and wife Michelle, and Joseph Yanone; his sisters, Marilyn Moses and husband Paul, and Claudia Cina; and his brothers-in-law, Richard Hooker and Sal Cina. He is also survived by his loving nieces and nephews—Robert Murphy, Richard Hooker, Frank Cina, Kimberly Halle, and Nikki Moses—and their families. Also, his loving family in Tennessee, Lucille and Raymond Truette and family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Michael Yanone Sr. and Rita Yanone, and his sister, Rita Hooker.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the excellent care provided by the Caris Healthcare staff during the final stages of Alfred’s prolonged illness—especially Lisa, Shaley, Ashley, Casey, and Breanna—who became close friends during a difficult yet unifying time.
Alfred’s legacy of love, service, and unwavering character will be forever cherished by his family and all who knew him. Services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, a cause close to Alfred and Kinez’s hearts throughout their lives.
“Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth,
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings.”
