Mr. Vahan Hookassian, age 77 and a resident of Spring Hill, TN, passed away on Thursday, July 19, 2012 at Alive Hospice at St. Thomas with his family by his side.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 23, 2012 in the Wallace Chapel of Christ Church at 15354 Old Hickory Blvd, Nashville, TN 37211 at 1:00 pm with Father Bedros Kadehjian. Interment will follow at Christ Church Memorial Gardens with Ghevond, Zareh, Connor, Austin and Dillon Hookassian serving as pallbearers. Prior to the funeral services, friends are welcome to join the family for visitation from 12:00 until 1:00 pm. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Hookassian was born November 12, 1934 in Kashmar, Iran and was the son of the late Baris Hookassian and Markarit Alexandrian Hookassian. He was the owner of United Foreign Cars from 1974 until he retired in 2003 and was a member of the Armenian Church of Nashville.
In addition to his wife, Lidya Hookassian of Spring Hill, Mr. Hookassian is survived by sons, Ghevond Hookassian (Dana) of Dayton, OH and Zareh Hookassian of Franklin, TN; daughter, Hilda Enriquez of Franklin, TN; sister, Verjean Mirzayan of Glendale, CA and seven grandchildren: Connor, Austin, Dillon, Kiana, Kylie, Kristin and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and granddaughter, Krystal Enriquez.
In lieu of flowers the family is accepting gifts to the Armenian Church of Nashville in memory of Vahan Hookassian.
